EMR (electronic medical record)
The digital version of the patient's chart at one practice: history, examination, diagnosis, prescriptions and reports. It answers 'what happened to this patient here?'.
Explained
Vendors use these terms loosely, which makes shopping confusing. Here is what each one means in practice, where they overlap, and how to decide which you need for an outpatient clinic.

The problem
A clinic owner searches 'EMR', a competitor's page says 'EHR', a demo calls it 'HMS'. It is hard to know whether you are comparing like with like, and easy to overbuy an inpatient system for an outpatient clinic.
How Clinov solves it
Yuktii combines the EMR, the practice-management side and the OPD queue for outpatient clinics. It does not run inpatient wards, beds or operation theatres, so you are not paying for what you will not use.
What Yuktii covers
EMR — the clinical record for one practice
EHR — a record designed to be shared across providers
Practice management — appointments, billing, staff, reports
Clinic management system — the same, for an outpatient clinic
OPD software — queue-first outpatient workflow
HMS — hospital-wide operations including inpatient

Meant to follow the patient across providers, so a lab, a specialist and a GP see one picture. In India the terms are used interchangeably at clinic level; ABDM is the national effort towards a shared record.
The business side: booking, queue, billing, staff, stock, reports and reminders. A clinic needs this as much as the record, which is why Yuktii includes both.
OPD software focuses on the outpatient day — tokens, consultation, prescription, billing. HMS (hospital management system) adds inpatient admissions, wards and theatres. A clinic that never admits patients does not need the latter.
EMR is one practice's record; EHR is designed to be shared across providers. In Indian clinic practice people use the words interchangeably.
Only if you admit patients. Outpatient clinics are better served by clinic management or OPD software.
No. It includes the operational side — appointments, billing, staff and reports — in addition to, or alongside, the clinical record.
Your data
Clinic and patient data is the clinic’s own. A clinic admin can download all of it whenever needed as one Excel workbook, with a sheet each for patients, appointments, treatments, prescriptions, billing, payments, inventory and staff.
Send us your existing records as an Excel or CSV file. Our team maps the columns, checks every row for problems and imports your patients, appointments, treatments, prescriptions, invoices and payments after review. An import can be rolled back if something is wrong. Talk to us about switching.
Download the overview, today’s snapshot, revenue, expenses, patients, doctors, treatments, medicines, lab cases, stock and doctor commission as PDF reports. The analytics cover clinical, revenue, patient, doctor, inventory and operations views for any period you choose, with AI insights on top.
